The 72nd Annual Mount Nittany Medical Center Charity Ball, held on Saturday, February 22, raised more than $160,000 for women & children’s services at the Medical Center.

One of Mount Nittany Health Foundation’s premier fundraisers, 440 attendees gathered at The Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center for the event, co-chaired by Gina Woskob and Tracie Doucette. Guests enjoyed a chef prepared, gourmet meal while listening to the sounds of Slippery Band.

“As always, it’s impressive to see the dedication of the Foundation, Charity Ball committee and members of our community who continue to support this event – and most importantly – quality healthcare in our region,” shares Kathleen Rhine, president and CEO, Mount Nittany Health. “This display of generosity is just another of the wonderful ways our community continues to support Mount Nittany Health and those in our care.”

Corporate sponsors, including Special Delivery-level sponsors, Alexander – A Butz Family Company, Mount Nittany Physician Group, Centre Emergency Medical Associates, Geisinger, and Penn State Health and Highmark Health; individual donations; ticket sales; online auction; and the Family Tree giving option helped to make the evening a success. A total of $30,000 was raised by Family Tree donations. The online auction raised more than $21,000, and gave bidders the opportunity to bid on deluxe vacations, weekend getaways, tickets to premier sporting events, glamorous packages and much more.

“Thank you to all those on the Charity Ball committee and the extraordinarily hard work they put into making the evening a success,” says Doucette. “Thank you to the generous community for your wonderful support of the event and helping us get closer to meeting our goals for women & children’s services.”

The largest unit of its kind in the region, the Medical Center’s women & children’s department – with dedicated medical and nursing teams – serves women's healthcare, pediatric patients and welcomes more than 1,300 newborns every year. Given the importance of this vital community resource for women, children and families, Mount Nittany Health is planning a significant renovation later this year.

Every detail of the project for the labor and delivery area will be designed with families in mind, and will include new labor and delivery rooms, post-partum rooms, nursery, family support space, more efficient clinical work areas and a new operating room - with personalized features, advanced technology, and a focus on safety that are the hallmarks of care at Mount Nittany Health.

New spaces will also be created for women's healthcare to ensure comfort, care and privacy during healing, as well as, a new space for pediatric patients with their special needs in mind, including more privacy and family support places for the growing number of women and families that trust Mount Nittany Health with their care.
