Emily Peterson, MD, named president of Robert H. Ivy Pennsylvania Plastic Surgery Society board

Mount Nittany Health is pleased to share that Emily Peterson, MD, Mount Nittany Physician Group Reconstructive & Cosmetic Surgery, has been appointed board president of the Robert H. Ivy Pennsylvania Plastic Surgery Society.

A graduate of Cornell University, Dr. Peterson earned her medical degree at Drexel University College of Medicine, where she was awarded the Donald R. Cooper, MD Award for Excellence in Surgery. Her residencies included general surgery and plastic & reconstructive surgery at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown. Dr. Peterson joined Mount Nittany Physician Group in 2009. She became a member of the Physician Group board of directors in 2017, and currently serves as its chair. She has also served on the Robert H. Ivy Pennsylvania Plastic Surgery Society board since 2016.

Board-certified in plastic surgery, Dr. Peterson is a member of several professional medical associations, including the American Medical Association, American Board of Plastic Surgery, and the Association of Women Surgeons. Dr. Peterson has also authored and co-authored several articles for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the journal for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

The Robert H. Ivy Pennsylvania Plastic Surgery Society was formed in 1954 to promote medical and surgical research, uphold the highest ethical codes of conduct, and share information, ideas and knowledge pertaining to the plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery specialty.
