Born and raised in Bellefonte, Kay is incredibly proud to be a Centre County native. Her love of competition is rivaled only by her passion for the communities where she has lived and worked. "In my youth, I was active in the Bellefonte YMCA. The Y called me when the Bald Eagle girls' softball team challenged the Bellefonte YMCA to a game. Back then, there was no Bellefonte girls' softball team, so I gathered a team of classmates and friends to play ball. We lost, and we lost badly with a final score 55-0," Kay Kustanbauter recalls with a laugh.

Her recollections reflect her deep connection to Centre County and her abiding love for the region. Driven to make a difference in her community Kay has been a longtime Mount Nittany Health volunteer.

Through her volunteer work as a teen and her current position as vice-chair of the Mount Nittany Health Foundation, Kay has made it her mission to ensure her family, friends, and neighbors from around the County have access to the best possible healthcare. She has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for life-saving care at our cardiovascular pavilion as a Golf Classic committee member.

"I love to give gifts whenever I host a party or for special celebrations and commemorations. Now, I want to give the gift of health and leave a lasting legacy that benefits Centre County and the communities I love so dearly," shares Kay.

Having seen the impact of philanthropy through her long career at Penn State in the athletics department, Kay is especially invested in the idea that donors can make a real difference in the lives of others.

To ensure her legacy of health, Kay has named Mount Nittany Health Foundation as a beneficiary in her will. "My involvement with Mount Nittany Health is a meaningful part of my life. I want to be sure Mount Nittany Health has the resources to recruit and retain excellent doctors and nurses and invest in cutting-edge technology now and into the future," states Kay.

"We are so grateful and proud to call Kay a friend, a volunteer, and a donor," shares Simon Corby, executive director, Mount Nittany Health Foundation. "Her generosity and foresight to include Mount Nittany Health Foundation in her estate plans is yet another way Kay is demonstrating her deeply rooted commitment to this community and exceptional healthcare."

Mount Nittany Health is proud to offer excellent clinical care across 30 medical specialties—with a timelessly compassionate touch. By making a planned gift, like Kay, you can ensure that our unique combination of compassionate and exceptional care will continue long into the future.
