As part of our mission to make people healthier and as a tobacco-free organization, Mount Nittany Health is pleased to once again participate in the Freedom From Smoking program.

The American Lung Association’s seven-week class is led by a certified facilitator, Adrienne Wise, RRT, lung nodule program coordinator, Mount Nittany Health, and offers a structured, systematic approach to quitting smoking. The program is an evidence-based cessation program, and it has been reported that participants are six times more likely to be smoke-free one year later than those who quit on their own.

Due to COVID-19, classes will be held virtually via Zoom and limited to 15-18 participants. Classes will be held on Tuesdays, July 27 – September 7, with time TBD based on participant availability. Any patient, employee or community member that is interested in enrolling in the program may do so. Spaces are limited and registration is required. If you’re unable to attend this class, please consider one of the other upcoming classes listed below. For more information or to register, call Adrienne Wise at 814.231.6881 or email adrienne.wise@mountnittany.org.

Freedom From Smoking Plus – an online self-study version of Freedom From Smoking – is also available to you. Normally $99.00, Freedom From Smoking Plus is offering free memberships due to COVID-19. Visit lung.org/quit-smoking/join-freedom-from-smoking to learn more.

Additionally, the PA Free Quitline is a free telephone counseling service available 24/7 that offers five scheduled sessions with a counselor and nicotine replacement therapy. To learn more visit health.pa.gov/topics/programs/tobacco/pages/quitline.aspx

Upcoming Freedom From Smoking classes:

Lung health has been identified as a community health priority area, according to the most recent Community Health Needs Assessment. As a way to address this key area of concern, we are proud to implement the Freedom From Smoking program to help make our community healthier.
