Since its inception in 1902, Mount Nittany Health has continuously evolved into a comprehensive health system with community partnership as a pillar of its growth and expansion. As we close out the year, we celebrate our philanthropic partnerships and the many ways they have positively impacted Mount Nittany Health.

Through the philanthropic support of community members, Mount Nittany Health has expanded our expertise, advanced lifesaving technology, improved programs, and upgraded our facilities– enabling us to provide best-in-class care.

"We are  100% focused on understanding the healthcare needs of our community and having the people, programs, technology and facilities to meet these needs,” said Tom Charles, executive vice president system development, chief strategy officer, Mount Nittany Health.  “Our recently announced plans for hospital and outpatient facilities continue our 120-year tradition of investing to make our community stronger.”

"Celebrating and honoring those who have played a critical role through financial support is important to Mount Nittany Health," shared Simon Corby, executive director, Mount Nittany Health Foundation. "We are able to accomplish all we have because of the incredible community support, which has played a critical role in helping us to provide greater care to the region," Corby said.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, residents have stepped up – donating more than $210,000 to provide critical funding for our nimble pandemic response. They also donated gloves, masks, and other personal protective equipment, along with countless comfort items like meals and snacks for nurses and staff. In addition, more than $35,000 was raised from grateful patients who received their COVID vaccine with Mount Nittany Health.

Mount Nittany Health recently announced significant investments in its future. Plans include building a new state-at-the-art bed tower, renovating the imaging department into a new diagnostic center, and developing an inpatient dialysis unit, in addition to unveiling a newly expanded women & children's services unit and renovated laboratory – both to be completed soon – all at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Additionally, a number of exciting renovation projects are planned throughout Mount Nittany Physician Group, including a new, multi-story outpatient healthcare facility in State College anticipated to open in late 2023. These investments will enable Mount Nittany Health to continue caring for our community well into the future, as well as provide an enhanced workspace for patients, providers, and staff.

"As we look to the future, the collective support of the community will provide the margin of excellence our community deserves and expects, augmenting our ability to meet the health needs of those around us," said Corby.

Gifts of all sizes support Mount Nittany Health and our commitment to clinical excellence. We proudly offer more than 30 medical specialties across 17 locations in six counties. In fact, the staff's dedication to clinical excellence has earned it a 5-star health system rating by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and a 2021 Newsweek magazine "World's Best Hospitals" ranking.
