The Society of Urologic Nurses & Associates (SUNA) has designated November 1 – 7, 2022, as Urology Nurses and Associates Week. This special week is a time to celebrate and recognize the unique skills and contributions of urology nurses and associates at Mount Nittany Health.

Urology nurses care for patients of all ages, providing guidance and treatment for various urologic diseases and concerns. They work in all healthcare settings and specialize in continence care, infertility, oncology, surgery, cystoscopy and urodynamics. In addition to providing testing and care, urology nurses and associates are also educators. They are well versed in explaining the importance of maintaining and promoting urinary health, and educating patients on treatment and surgery options.

Urology nurses and associates are celebrated for being compassionate and personable. Many urological conditions, such as urinary incontinence and sexual dysfunction can feel uncomfortable or embarrassing for patients to talk about. These healthcare professionals are empathetic, kind and knowledgeable.

Amy Hull, SUNA President, recognizes and celebrates the importance of these healthcare specialists: “Urology nurses and associates deserve the highest recognition for their amazing contributions and never-ceasing commitment to their patients. They are experts who are highly adept at providing guidance and treatment to patients who often require complicated sub-specialty care.

Please join us in applauding our incredible team of urology nurses and associates at Mount Nittany Health. This week and every week, we are so grateful for all they do and for contributing to our mission, “Healthier people, stronger community.”
