Mount Nittany
Health is pleased to announce the addition of Jason Ferderber, MD, to Mount
Nittany Physician Group Orthopedics.
“Injuries often alter one’s daily life, whether it is with
limiting work performance, affecting quality time with family, or restricting
physical activities,” says Dr. Ferderber. “Each day I challenge myself to do
what I can to get people back to the
lifestyle they enjoy.”
As an emergency physician with special knowledge in sports
medicine, Dr. Ferderber focuses on the care of active individuals, including
athletes of all levels. He works with patients not only to enhance health and
fitness, but also to prevent and manage injury and illness. His knowledge and
expertise in sports medicine emphasizes wellness and the role of exercise in
promoting a healthy lifestyle.
He joins an orthopedics team at Mount Nittany Physician Group
that offers an integrated sports medicine program, partnering with athletic
trainers and physical therapy specialists to design specialized rehabilitation
plans designed to safely return patients to work and play by using surgical and
non-surgical treatment options. Mount Nittany Physician Group orthopedic
physicians also work with expert radiologists to offer advanced diagnostic
imaging, including 3-Tesla MRI, to create individualized treatment plans.
“I am thrilled to join a group at Mount Nittany Health that emphasizes
a culture of respect and camaraderie,” Dr. Ferderber says. “It is a team
environment that places the care of patients first.”
Dr. Ferderber earned
his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from Penn State,
graduating with highest distinction. He then went on to Penn State’s College of
Medicine in Hershey, PA, where he earned his medical degree and was inducted
into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society, which recognizes those at the top of
their medical class. He completed his postgraduate training at the University
of Pittsburgh Medical Center, graduating from his residency in Emergency
Medicine and then his fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine.
When not working, Dr. Ferderber is “typically outside
whenever possible, whether it’s biking, running, or going on hikes with my
golden retriever.” He also enjoys playing cards and board games with family and
friends and is refining his amateur chef skills in the kitchen.
