About Me
Liz Wright's deep-rooted connection to the community and her compassionate approach to patient care align well with the values of Mount Nittany Health.
Born at Mount Nittany Medical Center and raised in the State College area, Liz deeply appreciates Mount Nittany Health's healthcare services. "I feel honored to return to the place that has been a constant in my life and provide the same level of care that I received," Liz said.
Her care philosophy centers around inclusive and patient-centered care. Her approach acknowledges the individual, environmental, and societal aspects that impact health.
"Working with individuals who experience trauma has inspired me to prioritize listening and empathizing with patients as they navigate how to keep themselves safe and healthy in their day to day lives,” said Liz.
While her primary focus lies in providing comprehensive care, Liz’s research expertise in trauma, particularly domestic violence, and sexual assault among young adults, adds depth to her practice. Her dedication to community responses and resources aligns perfectly with Mount Nittany Health's commitment to holistic patient care.
“I am passionate about understanding the long-term health impacts of trauma and how trauma-informed care can be better incorporated into the primary care setting,” she said.
Outside of her professional life, Liz is an avid runner and enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband and two children. She shares a passion for sports, particularly Penn State and Philadelphia teams.
Liz earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Penn State College of Nursing and Schreyer Honors College. She pursued further education, obtaining her Master's and Doctorate in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. She was part of the inaugural cohort of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Future of Nursing Scholars. Her commitment to ongoing learning led her to complete postdoctoral training at the Penn State College of Nursing Sexual Assault Forensic Examination-Telehealth (SAFE-T) Center and earn a post-graduate certificate in the Family and Individual Across the Lifespan Nurse Practitioner program from Thomas Jefferson University.
Her academic achievements and clinical experience are reflected in her impactful research publications. Liz’s work underscores the importance of supporting individuals who experience trauma and advocating for their long-term mental and physical well-being.
