Jared Maurer, DO

Dr. Maurer chose a career in healthcare after watching his mother dedicate her life as a nurse practitioner within the system. “Getting to see her journey through medicine and taking care of patients through the years directed my course towards preventative care,” he shared.

Returning close to his hometown was an important part of Dr. Maurer’s decision to join Mount Nittany Health. “I grew up in the Bald Eagle area,” he said. “After spending time away for education, it’s nice to be back closer to my roots.”

Dr. Maurer’s philosophy of care is rooted in the golden rule: treat others how you want to be treated. “This is a major principle that guides my medical practice and interactions with people,” he shared. “My Christian faith also guides my approach to patient care.”

His passion for helping others achieve their best health aligns perfectly with Mount Nittany Health’s commitment to patient-centered care. “I enjoy seeing patients thrive and have their wellbeing optimized,” he explained. “It motivates me as a health care provider.”

Dr. Maurer holds a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, VA. He graduated as a Gold Humanism Honors Society member based on nominations from supervising physicians, recognizing his exemplary humanistic qualities in patient care.

Dr. Maurer leads an active and fulfilling life with his wife and two children outside of work. He enjoys going on medical mission trips and crafting useful wood items. “During COVID, I taught myself woodworking and spoon carving. I like to make stuff that is useful,” he shared. “Most of my time outside work and hobbies is spent with my wife and two kids.”
