Mount Nittany Health team members once again demonstrated the organization’s deep commitment to community service during its annual Season of Giving, contributing toys, meals, food and cold-weather essentials to support families across the region. Through a series of charitable initiatives, employees came together to live out Mount Nittany Health’s mission of “Healthier people, stronger community.”

“The generosity, compassion and teamwork shown by our employees this year are a powerful reminder that caring for our community goes beyond the walls of our facilities,” said Kathleen Rhine, president and CEO. “I am incredibly proud of the impact our team continues to make for our neighbors.”

As part of the organization’s annual Toys for Tots collection, employees donated more than 600 toys and nonperishable items for local children and families. Contributions this year included:

  • 1 fishing rod
  • 1 scooter
  • 2 bikes
  • 2 skateboards
  • 15 sports balls (basketball, football, soccer)
  • 20+ Barbie dolls, baby dolls and LEGO sets
  • 40+ stuffed animals
  • 30+ puzzles
  • 75+ books
  • 80+ jewelry and crafting items
  • 90+ board and card games

And more!

Mount Nittany Health employees also supported the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, fulfilling more than 300 Angel Tree tags this year. Donations included over 250 gifts and 50 holiday meals for local children and families.

In addition, Mount Nittany Health reinforced its commitment to addressing food insecurity by contributing $10,000 to the State College Food Bank, which distributed more than 73,000 pounds of food to over 700 households last year. An employee food drive remains ongoing through Dec. 31, with donation boxes located throughout Mount Nittany Health facilities.

The organization’s annual Warming Tree initiative will also continue through February. Located in the Emergency Department at Mount Nittany Medical Center and the Shaner Cancer Pavilion, the trees collect new hats, gloves, scarves, socks and other winter essentials for community members in need.

Mount Nittany Health extends its heartfelt thanks to the community it is proud to serve and wishes everyone a joyful and healthy holiday season.
