Mount Nittany Health announced plans today to build a new, multi-story outpatient healthcare facility in Toftrees West in State College. As part of ongoing system-wide facility investments, the outpatient medical center will provide greater access to a range of outpatient healthcare services in a single location.
The facility will be part of the planned 700-acre multi-use Toftrees West development in Patton Township. Work continues to finalize the range of services and overall size of the facility, which is anticipated to open in late 2023. Health system leaders noted that a significant reason for developing the center is to create needed expansion capacity for the 170-provider Mount Nittany Physician Group which has outgrown its current locations.
“We are pleased to add this new facility and to further enhance the services we provide to the community,” said Kathleen Rhine, Mount Nittany Health CEO. “We continue to welcome highly-talented physicians and providers to our health system and our community. We need additional space to keep growing. This facility, in conjunction with the investments we are making at Mount Nittany Medical Center, support our mission of healthier people, a stronger community.”
The comprehensive health facility is another step Mount Nittany Health is taking to meet the health needs of the community while supporting expansion of its 30 specialty practices. Mount Nittany Health’s physician group currently comprises 17 locations and more than 170 highly skilled and specialized providers who serve more than 100,000 members of the community. Currently the group has locations in Centre, Huntingdon, Clearfield, and Mifflin counties.
“The addition of the outpatient medical center will allow Mount Nittany Health to meet the increased demand for patient-centered care and the growth of the Mount Nittany Physicians Group as we bring even more diverse services and highly-skilled providers to our health system,” said Dr. Upendra Thaker, Mount Nittany Health Chief Medical Officer. “This will have a positive impact on the health of our community with better access to high quality care and services in a single location.”
Mount Nittany Health physicians are consistently honored for their achievements in patient and specialty care, and Mount Nittany Medical Center recently was honored as a 2021 Newsweek World’s Best Hospital.
“The physicians at Mount Nittany Health are leaders in their field of practice and expertise,” said Dr. Chris Hester, Clinical Officer, Mount Nittany Physicians Group. “The continued investments in our growth, expansion and facilities modernization will help us continue to attract top-level talent at Mount Nittany Health.”
Mount Nittany Health looks forward to providing the community with updates on the outpatient medical center in the near future.
