With a deep commitment to patient care and a genuine compassion that resonates with patients, families, and colleagues alike, Halee Chase, RN, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), consistently brings heart, integrity, and professionalism to every shift. Her ability to create a supportive, trusting environment — while continually striving to grow in her role — strengthens her team and enhances the care Mount Nittany Health provides each day.
For these reasons and more, Halee was recently named the Jan. 2026 Mount Nittany Health Employee of the Month.
While Halee exemplifies all of Mount Nittany Health’s core values, she is being honored for the value of integrity. Her nomination reflects the meaningful impact of her character, compassion, and dedication. It stated:
“I would like to nominate and acknowledge a colleague who deserves more recognition than I can provide in a letter. This employee represents care, respect, teamwork, integrity, excellence, and stewardship in every aspect of their professional engagements. This team member is compassionate, even in the most difficult situations. (Care) I sometimes refer to this employee as ‘the patient whisperer.’ This team member is kind and considerate of others’ feelings in every interaction. (Respect) This employee works well with anyone and has a kind and approachable demeanor that makes it easy to ask for help. (Teamwork) This employee’s sincere love for others shines through in the trust and feeling of safety they give to each patient. (Integrity) This team member actively seeks feedback to continuously improve as a nurse. (Excellence) Every patient and their family members would agree that this employee provides the highest standards of care. This team member is conscientious regarding the hospital environment and resources provided. (Stewardship) I know it will be a great shift when this employee is working. This team member leads by example to maintain a positive environment. I truly appreciate the opportunity to work alongside this employee and hope they receive the recognition that is truly deserved. This employee should be Employee of the Month.”
Halee has been a valued member of Mount Nittany Health since June 2024, serving as a registered nurse in the Progressive Care Unit. Though early in her tenure, she has already made a lasting impression through her dedication to learning, her compassionate approach, and her strong connection with both patients and colleagues.
A graduate of Clarion University, Halee began her career working in skilled nursing facilities, where she served as an admissions director and in social services. Inspired by her experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic, she pursued a new path in nursing. While working in Geisinger’s Geisinger at Home program, she was mentored by nurses who encouraged her to return to school. She earned her Associate of Science in Nursing from Lock Haven University in 2024 and soon after joined the PCU team at Mount Nittany Health.
Reflecting on her role, Halee shared, “What I like most about my job is just being able to help people. To see that I made a difference for my patients is the most rewarding feeling. PCU is also a great environment to learn in. We have many experienced nurses on our unit who share their knowledge and experiences with the team — each shift I learn something new.”
When asked how it feels to be named Employee of the Month, she said, “I was surprised, to say the least. It’s very humbling, and I’m honored my coworkers and leadership chose me for this.”
Halee credits her team as a major part of what makes her experience so meaningful. “The best thing about PCU is our staff. We work together to help and support each other. We have an awesome team, and I’m glad to be part of it,” she shared, giving a special nod to the PCU nightshift crew.
Outside of work, Halee enjoys traveling, attending concerts, and spending time outdoors. She looks forward to warmer weather, when she can walk her dogs, go kayaking, and take long Jeep rides.
Halee, thank you for your integrity, your compassion, and your dedication to your patients and colleagues. We are proud to celebrate you and your embodiment of the Mount Nittany Health Experience.
