The largest unit of its kind in the region, the Joseph V. and Suzanne P. Paterno Women and Children’s Services Unit welcomes nearly 1,300 babies to our community each year.

Visiting Hours
- While the patient is in Labor and Delivery: Two designated support people (24hrs) are allowed, no switching.
- After the patient has been moved to PostPartum: One designated support person (24hrs)
- From 11:30 am – 8:00 pm: Two additional visitors at a time. No children under the age of 10. Siblings of the baby do not count towards the guest count.
Pediatric Hospitalist Program
Mount Nittany Health offers the region’s only pediatric hospitalist program. Our pediatric hospitalists are specially trained in caring for young patients needing inpatient care.
Classes and Tours
Hospital Education, Information, and Resources (HEIR) Classes
Classes include a tour of the labor and delivery unit, along with discussions about car seats, breastfeeding, and other relevant topics. Taught by nurses at Mount Nittany Medical Center, each class will conclude with a Q&A session.

Free Virtual Childbirth Classes
Mount Nittany Health is partnering with Birthly to offer free access to virtual childbirth education classes. The free childbirth classes are offered live and online, taught by certified and experienced childbirth educators.
Classes include Early Pregnancy Preparations, Prenatal Education Bootcamp (English and Spanish), Coping and Comfort, Breastfeeding 101(English and Spanish), as well as Newborn Care (English and Spanish).
