“With every patient I assess the situation and make recommendations based on what I would do if it was my family or friend. I explain what the problem is and discuss options for treatment. In most instances, conservative measures can be utilized to treat spine problems.”

About Me
After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State, Dr. Lakatos earned a medical degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine. He completed an orthopedic residency at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. He has also completed a spine fellowship at Dallas Specialty Hospital and a trauma fellowship at Orthopaedic Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Lakatos went on to say that if a surgical procedure is needed, his philosophy is to use the technique that will yield the best results for the patient.
“I take the time to explain to patients my rationale for any procedure,” he said. “People feel better when they know what treatment options they have and understand what is causing their symptoms.”
In addition to talking pride in his spine surgery career, Dr. Lakatos also takes great pride in his family. He is married and has four children, the youngest of whom is in high school. The family enjoys various sports, including skiing, tennis, and golf.
“Providing care at a community-based healthcare system like Mount Nittany Health makes me feel like I’m part of a healthcare system that is focused on helping people, and I enjoy it,” said Dr. Lakatos.
