About Me
Dr. Spencer is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who sees patients in need of specialty shoulder care, total joint replacements, and sports related injuries. He is an expert in advanced arthroscopic and minimally invasive techniques involving the shoulder as well as total knee, hip, and shoulder replacement surgery. He is also experienced in sports related injuries and fracture care.
After earning his undergraduate from Penn State in 2000, Dr. Spencer returned to his native Philadelphia and received his medical degree from The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2005. He then completed an orthopedic residency at York Hospital before spending a year specializing in shoulder surgery and sports medicine at The University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Spencer is a member of several orthopedic organizations including The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America, American Society of Sports Medicine, and Mid-Atlantic Shoulder and Elbow Society. He received the Philadelphia Sports Medicine Research Award in 2011 and continues to be involved with orthopedic and shoulder research with his colleagues.
Dr. Spencer was an All-American boxer for Penn State and enjoys giving back to the Penn State Boxing Team as the ringside physician for all their bouts.

Dr. Spencer tells it like it is. He puts things in prospective and affords you the information to make a good decision.

I can not say enough about my doctor (Dr. Brian Spenser), his staff, the nurses in the hospital and everyone involved in my care. I was always advised of my choices and was always informed of the process of my surgery.

Even though I no longer live in the area, I may still drive the four hours to stay with Nittany orthopedics If needed.
