Kim Ross, RN, Medical/Surgical/Orthopedics (MSO), Mount Nittany Medical Center, is an incredible asset to the unit she serves. She is a reliable team player who always shows up to work with a positive attitude and a smile on her face. No matter what tasks she is working on, she will drop everything to lend a hand to help her colleagues.
Kim exemplifies all of Mount Nittany Health’s core values of caring, excellence, integrity, respect, teamwork, and stewardship. For the Employee of the Month honor, she is being recognized for epitomizing the values of teamwork and stewardship.
She was nominated by multiple colleagues for Employee of the Month. Her nominators said, “Kim is such an important part of the MSO unit. She wears many different hats, including charge nurse, floor nurse, one-on-one sitter, float nurse, and secretary. She is always willing to help anyone who needs it, and she routinely goes above and beyond for her patients and colleagues. Even when she has a full team, she is seen running around the unit, answering call bells of patients who are not assigned to her. When she is a charge nurse, she always does the same thing, putting the needs of the patients first. She never says she is ‘too busy’ to help with something. We could use more nurses like Kim, because she is amazing and we are so grateful for all she does.”
Kim currently lives in Philipsburg and has served the Centre region and Mount Nittany Health as a nurse for more than 10 years. Before joining the MSO unit, she was an OB coordinator at Mount Nittany Health OB/GYN. She graduated from Lock Haven University with an Associate Degree in Nursing.
Kim was honored to be named April’s Employee of the Month. “It was a huge surprise to be named Employee of the Month since we have so many great employees and potential candidates working at Mount Nittany Health,” said Kim. “I am so glad to be part of the health system because I love working for the MSO unit. We all work so well together and we are a fun group to be around.”
When Kim isn’t busy helping patients and brightening her colleagues’ spirits, she enjoys traveling and shopping on Amazon. She is grateful for the love and support of her husband, Ed; her step-daughter Makayla; and her two cats, Piper and Nugget.
We are grateful to have Kim as part of our organization and applaud her for consistently demonstrating our core values. Please join us in congratulating her on this incredible honor. Kim, thank you for all you do for our patients, and for contributing to our mission of, “Healthier people, stronger community.”
