Mount Nittany Health Celebrates DAISY Award Winner, Hilary Robison, RNC-OB

Hilary Robison poses with her DAISY award

Hilary Robison, RNC-OB, Mount Nittany Health Women and Children’s Services, has long been a respected and admired member of the labor and delivery team. She routinely goes above and beyond for her patients and colleagues while epitomizing the Mount Nittany Health Experience. Recently, Hilary was honored with a DAISY Award for providing exceptional care to a first-time mother at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Hilary’s nomination read, “I first met Hilary a few days before I was supposed to be induced when I had to take a trip to the Medical Center after some concerns at my routine obstetrician appointment. Naturally, I was nervous and she took amazing care of me and eased my mind. Everything ended up being fine, and she said if I made it through the weekend without going into labor, she would be there as my nurse for my induction. I did make it and showed up that morning and she was there. There weren’t a lot of admissions that day, so she told me that she was offered to take the day off but she wanted to come in and be there for me, which was such an amazing and kind thing to say and do. I had horrible anxiety about giving birth for the first time and it eased my mind to see her. She explained every step of my induction, answered any and all questions I had, and held my hand right along with my husband when I was going through the most pain and when I got my epidural. She truly made the entire experience amazing and a memory that I look back fondly on. Unfortunately, she just missed the birth of my son by a few hours after her shift ended, but I will never forget her and everything she did for me to give me the best birth experience I could have.”

Hilary has been a valued member of the organization for more than 18 years, first serving as part of the Med/Surg/Ortho and Medical/Oncology nursing teams. In 2010, she joined the Women and Children’s Services unit where she has been making a transformative difference in the lives of expectant families ever since. Before joining Mount Nittany Health, Hilary received an Associate of Science in Nursing from Lock Haven University; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mount Aloysius College; and an inpatient obstetrician certification.

Hilary was surprised and humbled to be named a DAISY recipient and acknowledged the many satisfying aspects of her job. “My job is one of the most rewarding and unpredictable careers,” she said. “Being a stay-at-home mom is not an option for me, but the joy of helping other women become mothers is the next best thing. My nomination reads that I helped ease her anxiety, but I only provided the care I would want my own family to receive.”

She also explained that her colleagues have a tremendous impact on her life. “The best thing about my department is my coworkers,” said Hilary. “The people I work with are more like family than colleagues. There are times when I spend more hours with them than I do with my own family. The love and support they offer is one of the biggest blessings in my life.”

When Hilary isn’t busy serving the community, being a mother is her top priority. Most of the time you can find her at the softball field or football field supporting her children, who are the light of her life. Her daughter Ava is 16 and her son Jace is 14. “Being a cheerleader for my kids is the best hobby ever,” she said. In the event she does have free time, she also enjoys reading.

Please join us in applauding Hilary for exemplifying the Mount Nittany Health Experience and for being a DAISY Award recipient. Hilary, thank you for your commitment to providing compassionate care and for contributing to our mission of “Healthier people, stronger community.”
