
New Parent Classes
Held every third Thursday of each month
Mount Nittany Medical Center’s HEIR (Hospital Education, Information and Resources) and Parent Class is designed to help expecting parents and their support persons feel prepared and confident for the journey ahead.
During the class, participants will:
- Tour the labor and delivery unit to understand what to expect, from pre-registration to taking your baby home.
- Learn about items to pack, birthing rooms, rooming-in and other key details.
- Receive basic car seat installation instructions.
- Have the opportunity to ask questions and receive personalized answers from a highly experienced registered nurse.
- Attend an optional “Basics of Breastfeeding” class to gain expert guidance on feeding your newborn.
This event is free of charge, and no registration is required. Attendance is limited to the pregnant person and one support person (no children, please).

Schedule:
Held every third Thursday of each month:
- 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.: Session 1 (choose this or Session 2)
- 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.: Basics of Breastfeeding (optional for all participants)
- 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.: Session 2 (identical to Session 1)

Ample parking is available at the Medical Center. Follow the signs at the main entrance for the HEIR & Parent event location.
