Community Health Update
August 6, 2026
1 min read
As of August 6, 2026, Mount Nittany Health has confirmed measles cases in Centre and Mifflin Counties. We’ve notified the Pennsylvania Department of Health and are following all necessary protocols, including thorough contact tracing to ensure anyone at risk is informed and protected.
Measles screening questions are now being implemented at our outpatient locations. If you have an appointment scheduled and suspect exposure or symptoms, or if you need to schedule an appointment and believe you’ve been exposed or have symptoms, contact the office for guidance on the next steps to help prevent further exposure.
Measles is highly contagious and spreads through respiratory droplets. Symptoms, which often appear 10 to 14 days after exposure, include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes and a rash starting on the face and spreading downward.
Vaccination remains the best defense, and we thank our community for supporting a safe environment.
