We want to inform you about recent measles exposures at Mount Nittany Health:
- Mount Nittany Health Toftrees at 164 Greenview Drive, on July 31, from 10 a.m. to noon
- Mount Nittany Medical Center Emergency Department at 155 Wellness Way, from noon July 31 to 1 a.m. Aug. 1
Our dedicated team is actively contacting high-risk individuals who may have been in the areas during that time.
Please be aware that measles screening questions are now in place at all outpatient locations. If you have an upcoming appointment and suspect exposure or symptoms — or need to schedule one and believe you’ve been exposed or have symptoms — please call the office first for guidance. This is essential to help prevent further spread.
Measles is a highly contagious virus that spreads via respiratory droplets. Symptoms typically appear 7 to 21 days after exposure and may include a high fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, Koplik spots or a rash starting on the face and spreading downward.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, or believe you have been exposed to measles, please contact your Primary Care office or call ExpressCARE (814.234.6124) for assessment and guidance. Remember to call ahead and always mask if you suspect you may have measles.
Vaccination remains the most effective way to protect yourself from measles.
