Mount Nittany Health offers the largest imaging center in the county

In July of 2025, the Diagnostic Pavilion renovation project at Mount Nittany Medical Center has been completed. Initiated in 2022, this multi-phase effort represents a significant investment in advancing diagnostic services.

What to know about our diagnostic imaging center

From ultrasounds and mammograms to MRI and CT scans, we’re proud to bring these services to our community. This reflects our continued commitment to providing exceptional care in an environment designed for both comfort and efficiency.

We also offer:

  • Provides 24/7 service
  • Employs 120 technical staff
  • Conducts nearly 160,000 imaging studies each year, including approximately:
    • 48,000 CT scans
    • 10,000 MRIs
    • 18,000 ultrasounds
    • 20,000 mammograms
  • Provides advanced diagnostic accuracy for imaging related to prostate, orthopedics, breast, brain, spine and more.
  • Includes state-of-the-art equipment and techniques
    • Updated MRI: 1.5T MRI upgrade has quicker scan times.
    • New 3.0T MRI offers high-resolution imaging, including advanced neurological and prostate studies. It also introduces diagnostic capabilities that were not previously available in our region.
    • Two new X-Ray Radiography and Fluoroscopy rooms for advanced, real-time imaging.
    • Two new CT scanners are high-speed and provide quicker imaging and better resolution, while decreasing the radiation dose, which is particularly important for younger patients.
    • Updates to X-ray Room 5 and related infrastructure further support this high-volume environment and contribute to our ability to meet growing diagnostic demands across the region.
