Support the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) of Centre County

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month – a time to take a greater stance for the most vulnerable children in our community.

Every child deserves to feel safe, loved, and supported.

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Centre County provides critical care to children and their families who have experienced abuse or trauma, meeting their needs in a safe, child-centered environment. The CAC’s team consists of trauma-informed staff, including expert and specially trained forensic interviewers, medical providers, and a family advocate. The team works closely with children and their caregivers throughout every phase of the investigation to ensure they have access to any necessary resources. From interviews and medical exams, to comfort needs and security, every level of care and interaction is considered. The CAC also coordinates with law enforcement, child protective caseworkers, prosecutors, and other multidisciplinary team members and partners to ensure children have dedicated advocacy.

The CAC serves more than 300 cases on average each year. Every case is handled with significant compassion and kindness, ensuring children have access to the resources they need upon referral. As we work towards creating a safer, brighter future for Central Pennsylvania, the CAC, with the help of dedicated donors and Mount Nittany Health, is actively investing in a new, expanded space that will strengthen services and improve delivery of care.

The expansion will:

  • Reduce wait times, shortening the time children wait for help
  • Increase capacity for onsite medical exams and multiple interview spaces
  • Offer more privacy, soundproofing, and improved safety
  • Bring mental health services into the CAC
  • Create dedicated rooms for family support and casework
  • Add natural light, calming spaces, and child-friendly design
  • Add an outdoor wellness garden for children and families

The need for services remains critical.

Your support today is an investment in the future. By donating to the CAC, you are helping protect children in their most vulnerable moments. With your help, we can continue to provide crucial services to children and their families at no charge. Thank you for your generosity, support, and partnership in this important work.
