Mount Nittany Medical Center has once again earned a prestigious Five-Star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), marking the sixth consecutive reporting period with this distinction. This recognition places Mount Nittany Medical Center among the top 381 hospitals out of 4,658 across the United States, signifying exceptional performance in healthcare quality.

“It is an honor to once again receive a Five-Star rating from CMS,” said Kathleen Rhine, Mount Nittany Health President and CEO. “Less than nine percent of hospitals received a Five-Star rating, and this is only possible thanks to the wonderful staff members at Mount Nittany Health. Their commitment to patient safety and quality medical care is the reason why our community has relied on Mount Nittany Health for over 120 years.”

The CMS overall star rating summarizes a variety of measures of quality including mortality, safety of care, readmission rates, patient experience, and timeliness and effectiveness of care. These ratings offer valuable insights into how well hospitals deliver high-quality care compared to others nationwide. For more information, visit medicare.gov/care-compare.

Tiffany Cabibbo, DSc, MSN, RN, CENP, Chief Nursing Officer at Mount Nittany Health, commented, “Our team upholds rigorous standards for patient quality and safety. This Five-Star rating reaffirms that our community can rely on us for high-quality medical care for themselves and their families.”

In addition to the CMS Five-Star rating, Mount Nittany Medical Center has recently been named a “World’s Best Hospital 2024” and one of “America’s Best Maternity Hospitals” by Newsweek. The Medical Center also received the 2023 Excellence in Patient Safety Recognition from the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP).
