Lee Fulton Honored as Mount Nittany Health’s Inaugural BEE Award Recipient

Tiffany Cabibbo presents the BEE award to Lee Fulton, Culinary Services

Mount Nittany Health is proud to recognize Lee Fulton, Culinary Services, as a recipient of the inaugural BEE Award for his exceptional dedication to our patients, staff, and community.

The BEE Award — which stands for Be Exceptional and Excel — complements our DAISY Award for nursing excellence by honoring non-nursing staff whose compassion, service, and commitment bring the Mount Nittany Health Experience to life. Lee exemplifies these qualities through his kind, thoughtful interactions and support of both patients and colleagues.

Lee was nominated by his peers for consistently going above and beyond. They shared that he is always willing to help nursing staff, answering questions or finding solutions when needed, and treats every patient with warmth and respect. One colleague wrote:

“Lee is always going out of his way for the patients and staff. When he interacts with patients, he is the kindest and gentlest person. Even if the patient isn’t so nice in return, he ‘kills them with kindness’ every time. He treats every patient like they’re his family. Lee is a true example of Mount Nittany Health’s mission.”

Lee has been part of Mount Nittany Health for six years, serving in both Environmental Services and Culinary Services. Reflecting on the honor of receiving the BEE Award, he said, “For me, it was a roller coaster of a past year, so receiving this award and being recognized as the first one, I am very honored and privileged to receive such a prestigious award. The best thing about my department is the camaraderie amongst everyone, which allows others to give the patients the best care and attention they deserve.”

Outside of work, Lee enjoys coaching his daughter Cora’s softball team, a role that keeps him motivated and grounded. He also cherishes time with his wife, Lana, and their cats, Rowan and Pickles. His personal motto — “Be the change you want to see in the world” — reflects the spirit he brings to every interaction at Mount Nittany Health.

The BEE Award — which stands for Be Exceptional and Excel — complements the DAISY Award for nursing excellence by recognizing non-nursing team members whose compassion, service, and commitment are essential to outstanding patient care. Just as a DAISY cannot bloom without the help of a BEE, the Mount Nittany Health Experience is made possible through the dedication of every role across our health system, from clinical support and environmental services to culinary, transport, and administrative teams.

BEE Award recipients are selected by a committee and celebrated throughout the year. Each honoree receives a pin, certificate, and token of appreciation in recognition of their exceptional contributions. Patients, families, visitors, volunteers, and staff are encouraged to nominate individuals who exemplify Mount Nittany Health’s core values and help further our mission of “Healthier people, stronger community.” Nominations may be submitted by emailing BeeAward@mountnittany.org.
