ames “Jimmy” Rossman, Security Officer II, has been a cornerstone of the Mount Nittany Health team for more than thirty-three years. Known for his reliability, generosity of spirit, and steady leadership, Jimmy consistently goes above and beyond to support his colleagues and the people we serve. Whether lending his expertise, guiding newer team members, or taking on extra responsibilities to help his department, Jimmy is always ready to step in and contribute. With his collaborative nature and willingness to go the extra mile, he has become a trusted colleague and an important member of the Mount Nittany Health family.
Jimmy embodies the Mount Nittany Health Experience through his everyday actions and reflects each of our six core values. For this recognition, we are especially proud to honor him for the value of teamwork. His commitment to building a supportive, tight-knit team environment is evident in the way he mentors fellow officers and ensures that everyone makes it home safely at the end of each shift.
His nomination read:
“If there were ever a time to recognize the heart and backbone of our department, that time is now. This employee always goes above and beyond. He’s the go-to guy for everything from lock and key systems to managing our complex C-Cure 9000 access control program. He works closely with Johnson Controls to ensure the entire hospital’s door badging and security infrastructure runs smoothly. While most would consider that a full workload in itself, this team member doesn’t stop there.
He voluntarily takes on the responsibility of writing our schedule, freeing up our manager to focus on other pressing priorities. He does this with fairness, balance, and foresight—always taking into account the unique needs of the team. He is more than a senior officer; he’s a leader, a mentor, and a role model. He’s constantly passing on his knowledge to younger officers, helping shape the future of our department and inspiring others to lead with the same integrity and selflessness that he does.
Outside of work, this employee’s character only shines brighter. His heroic rescue of a person trapped in a flooded river speaks volumes about his instinct to protect and serve—not just on duty, but in life. He’s an incredible father whose commitment to service runs deep in his family, with two daughters working right here in the hospital and a son now serving as a State College police officer.
To us, this employee isn’t just a co-worker—he’s a brother. He represents everything this award stands for, and he lives out our hospital’s core values every single day. His caring nature is evident in the way he treats patients, staff, and even strangers in need. He treats everyone with respect, leads with integrity, and models excellence in everything he does. Through his mentorship and collaboration, he promotes true teamwork, and his willingness to take on extra responsibilities reflects a deep sense of stewardship for our department and the organization as a whole. It’s time he is recognized not just for what he does, but for who he is.”
Jimmy began his career at Mount Nittany Health in December 1992 after graduating from the PA Act 120 Municipal Police Academy. Over the years, he has become a key resource for our security team and a steadying influence during high-stress and sometimes dangerous situations.
Reflecting on his career and this recognition, Jimmy said, “The thing I have liked most about my job has been helping people through a stressful situation. I’m grateful to those who nominated me, as this nomination came from my peers. To me, this means I’ve been there when they needed me. The thing I like best about our department is that we are a very close and tight-knit group. Because of the work we do. Sometimes in very dangerous situations. Making sure my guys make it home to their families at the end of the day is very important to me.”
Outside of work, Jimmy enjoys spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, and camping with his family. His commitment to service extends far beyond the hospital walls, and his dedication to his family and community is evident in all he does.
We are honored to recognize Jimmy Rossman as our July 2025 Employee of the Month. Jimmy, thank you for your dedication, your leadership, and for consistently exemplifying the Mount Nittany Health Experience and our mission of “Healthier people, stronger community.”
