Rob Schilling and Kathleen Rhine hold the employee of the month certificate

Rob Schilling, Environmental Services Aide, Mount Nittany Medical Center, is deeply committed to his department, his colleagues, and the patients we serve. He approaches each day with purpose and pride, and he is often the first to notice when a room needs attention, stepping in to clean it immediately, without being asked, and always doing so with a warm demeanor that uplifts those around him. By monitoring the bed board and anticipating patient needs, Rob stays one step ahead to ensure that rooms are ready promptly, helping the department run smoothly even during the most hectic times. Described by his team as hard-working, kind, reliable, fast, and a tremendous asset, Rob’s contagious positivity creates a supportive environment where others feel encouraged and valued. Whether he’s maintaining cleanliness or simply offering a kind word, Rob consistently finds meaningful ways to make a difference. For these reasons and many more, Rob was recently named the Mount Nittany Health Employee of the Month for May.

Rob embodies the Mount Nittany Health Experience in everything he does. While he lives out all six of our core values, we are especially proud to recognize him for his excellence. He shows up every day with focus, consistency, and a spirit of service. His presence has a calming, energizing effect, reminding everyone around him what it means to be dedicated, compassionate, and reliable.

Nominated by numerous team members across departments, Rob’s impact is best captured in the words of his colleagues who nominated him. They said, “Rob consistently goes above and beyond to support the Emergency Department staff, especially with cleaning. He is always ready to step in as soon as a room needs attention, exceeding expectations with a positive attitude and a smile. An extremely hardworking member of the EVS department, Rob helps keep the emergency area running smoothly by quickly and efficiently maintaining cleanliness. He engages cheerfully with both staff and patients, uplifting spirits in what can be a busy and stressful environment. Always attentive to the bed board, Rob often cleans rooms even before being asked. He epitomizes Mount Nittany Health’s core value of excellence through his readiness to assist, attention to detail, and friendly demeanor. Staff appreciate his fast response, consistent positivity, and genuine care in every interaction. Rob truly brightens the day of everyone around him and is a vital contributor to the department’s success. His commitment and upbeat presence make him a deserving candidate for Employee of the Month.”

Rob joined Mount Nittany Health nearly two years ago and immediately began making a difference in the community. He holds an associate degree in computer programming, is biohazard trained, and was an Eagle Scout, experiences that reflect his wide-ranging skills, attention to detail, and strong sense of responsibility.

When asked what he enjoys most about his role, Rob said, “I take pride in doing whatever needs to be done to help our team.”

Rob was surprised but grateful to be named May’s Employee of the Month. He expressed his gratitude to his wife, Kelsea, and their children, daughter Phoebe and son Robert, for their love and support.

Outside of work, Rob enjoys spending meaningful time with his family and engaging in self-hosting and virtualization technologies.

We are so grateful to have Rob as part of our team and applaud him for this incredible honor. Rob, thank you for all you do for your colleagues, our patients, and the community, all while exemplifying the Mount Nittany Health Experience.
