As we celebrate National Volunteer Week (April 21-27th), Mount Nittany Health extends our deepest appreciation to our remarkable volunteers. Donned with blue coats, their daily presence within our Mount Nittany Health system serves as a powerful reminder of our community roots in the Centre Region.
Mount Nittany Health is fortunate to have over 115 volunteers who, from July 2023 through March 2024, donated 6,695 hours of their time to serve our health system and community. From college students eager to make a difference and pursue their passion for medicine, to retirees with a wealth of life experience, our volunteers embody the spirit of service in its truest form.
“Our volunteers bring so much joy and comfort to our patients and their families,” said Rebecca Burkholder, Case Management, Mount Nittany Health. “We are so appreciative of their support and I love the kind smiles when I see them in the facility. Thank you!”
Notably, one volunteer, Joe Reilly, has been of service to Mount Nittany Health for over 12 years, volunteering more than 8,000 total hours.
“Joe is a gem of a volunteer,” said Monique Behrer, Supervisor, Volunteer Resources, Mount Nittany Health Foundation. “He has trained so many other volunteers, and his commitment to service is truly commendable.”
Our volunteers greet and escort patients and visitors; perform clerical duties; help organize materials, and provide other assistance as needed. If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering, please contact Monique Behrer at mtb0523@mountnittany.org.
In a world where time is a precious commodity, all of our volunteers have chosen to dedicate theirs to serve alongside us. Their willingness to give their time and talents to support our mission of “Healthier people, stronger community,” is nothing short of inspiring.
