Michael Lunski, MD joins Mount Nittany Health

Mount Nittany Health welcomes Michael Lunski, MD, to its Hematology & Oncology team, further strengthening comprehensive cancer care for patients throughout Centre Region.

Dr. Lunski brings more than 10 years of experience in hematology and oncology, treating a wide range of cancers across all stages, including breast cancer, colon cancer and leukemia, as well as non-cancerous blood conditions such as anemia and clotting and bleeding disorders. Throughout his career, Dr. Lunski has been involved in clinical trials and clinical cancer research, including research related to multiple myeloma and glioblastoma stem cells. He also has contributed to publications examining the effects of COVID-19 on cancer patients.

“Every patient is different, and communication styles certainly are not one-size-fits-all,” said Dr. Lunski. “My goal is to make sure there is as little gray area as possible for my patients. I want them to have the information they need to make decisions about their care and feel confident in the team supporting them.”

Dr. Lunski earned his medical degree from St. George’s University in Grenada and a Bachelor of Science from Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at M.D. Anderson Ochsner Cancer Center in Louisiana. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology.

Before joining Mount Nittany Health, Dr. Lunski served as a Medical Oncology/Hematology Attending and Director of Clinical Cancer Research and Clinical Trials at Mosaic Cancer Center in Missouri.

Originally from northeastern Pennsylvania, Dr. Lunski grew up in Hanover Township before leaving the area for college. He and his wife, a Penn State alumna, chose to return to the region to be closer to family and friends.
