Mount Nittany Health is proud to announce the addition of Asna Amin, MD, FACS, FASCRS, a board-certified and fellowship-trained colorectal surgeon, to its General Surgery team. Dr. Amin brings with her a distinguished record of clinical excellence, academic leadership and military service.
Dr. Amin’s clinical expertise includes the treatment of colon and rectal cancers, colorectal prolapse, hemorrhoids and fissures, fecal incontinence, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and inflammatory bowel disease. Known for her compassionate and patient-first philosophy, Dr. Amin works closely with patients to create personalized care plans that fit their unique needs.

Dr. Amin earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Psychology from the University of Houston, graduating magna cum laude, and received her Doctor of Medicine from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She completed her general surgery internship and residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and a colorectal surgery fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School.
She is a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colorectal Surgery. Dr. Amin also serves on the Young Surgeons Committee of the American Board of Colorectal Surgeons, demonstrating her commitment to advancing the profession and mentoring future surgeons.
Dr. Amin’s career includes serving as Chief of Colorectal Surgery at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, where she was also an Associate Professor with the Uniformed Services Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. She has been recognized as a Hudson Valley Top Doctor in Colon and Rectal Surgery (2018–2024).
A decorated U.S. Army veteran, Dr. Amin served during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Inherent Resolve in Kuwait, caring for trauma patients, critically ill service members and civilians. Her service earned her multiple honors, including the Army Commendation Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal.
