Mount Nittany Health welcomes Marybeth Jones, MD, to our pediatric team

Looking to relocate closer to family, Dr. Jones found that Mount Nittany Health’s values fit with hers, “…particularly in providing community-oriented care,” she shared. “They strive for really high-quality, community-focused, and compassionate care—all things that align with my practices.”

Pursuing a career in pediatrics stems from a genuine love of working with young patients. “I love working with kids and families, helping them reach their healthcare goals,” Dr. Jones explained. With dual training in internal medicine and pediatrics, she has focused on pediatrics to support adolescents and young adults in their healthcare journey.

There is so much joy and excitement in working with kids. “Kids are a lot of fun,” she shared. “Every day comes with something new and an opportunity to appreciate each individual’s strengths.” This enthusiasm for pediatric care is reflected in her philosophy of care, which emphasizes building strong provider-patient relationships. “I believe strongly in building relationships, bringing a patient-centered approach with evidence-based medicine to an individual’s strengths and needs,” she explained.

“It’s a privilege to be a part of pediatric patients’ and their parents’ journey as their kids grow up,” she continued. “Watching their growth and health inspires me.”

Dr. Jones received her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine and Pediatric residency at UPMC in Pittsburgh, followed by an Academic General Pediatric Fellowship at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Health Professions Education from the University of Rochester.

In addition to her clinical experience, she brings significant experience in  medical education to Mount Nittany Health. “I love supporting trainees in pediatrics and primary care as well,” Dr. Jones shared.

When she is not caring for patients, Dr. Jones enjoys staying active. “I enjoy hiking, kayaking, and watching ice hockey in the winter,” she said.
