The Mount Nittany Medical Center has once again been recognized with a Five-Star Quality Rating by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for the fifth consecutive reporting period. This is a significant achievement, as Mount Nittany Medical Center is among the short list of 10% of hospitals in the United States that earned a Five-Star Quality Rating.

“Mount Nittany Health is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care,” said Kathleen Rhine, Mount Nittany Health President and CEO. “It’s an honor to receive the highest rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and it would not be possible without the dedicated staff members at Mount Nittany Health who go above and beyond to provide exceptional care to our patients.”

The CMS overall star rating summarizes a variety of measures of quality including safety of care, readmission rates, patient experience, and timeliness and effectiveness of care. The CMS ratings are used to show how well each hospital performed on these quality measures compared to other hospitals in the United States.

“Our team has high standards for patient quality and safety,” said Tiffany Cabibbo, DSc, MSN, RN, CENP, Executive Vice President, Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer, Mount Nittany Health. “This rating reinforces that the community can rely on us to provide high-quality medical care for themselves and their families.”

Mount Nittany Medical Center was previously recognized with a Five-Star rating in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.

Mount Nittany Medical Center was also recently named a “World’s Best Hospital 2023” and “America’s Best Maternity Hospitals” by Newsweek and has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of ApprovalTM for quality care and patient safety.
