“I take pride in building meaningful patient relationships because they often have crucial insights about themselves, and with those insights, I’m able to treat patients holistically.”
Ashley Dunkelberger, PA-C
Ashley Dunkelberger, PA-C, chose to join Mount Nittany Health because of her strong community ties and the desire to work closer to home.
“I spent two years working in Lewistown and learned the significance of being a part of the local community,” said Ashley. “Mount Nittany Health’s reputation and the opportunity to be in State College were key factors in the decision to join this team.”
Ashley’s approach to care is guided by her genuine love for working with patients. She emphasizes the importance of building meaningful relationships with those she treats, focusing on the whole person rather than just medical concerns.
Her motivation comes from the connections she forms with patients and her hands-on approach to solving problems. “Working on my husband’s family farm has brought out the hands-on nature in me,” Ashley said. “I take pride in the idea that I can help heal what's not working and restore patients to health.”
Ashley specializes in orthopedic care, including treatments for the shoulder, hip and knee, shoulder replacements, fracture care, hand and elbow procedures, and injections. She also has experience in spine care and works closely with Dr. Wilson and athletic trainers to deliver comprehensive services to patients.
Ashley earned a Bachelor of Science from Saint Joseph’s University and a Master’s in Health Sciences in Physician Assistant Studies from Lock Haven University.
Growing up in Schuylkill County, Pa., Ashley learned the value of hard work and teamwork while watching her family run a small business. Now, outside of work, she spends time on her husband’s family farm, where they raise Angus cattle, horses and other animals. Ashley enjoys outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, horseback riding, camping and kayaking with her husband, Ryan. Her border collie, Flynn, is always by her side.
