Dr. Barry Stein has spent many years practicing oral surgery in Centre County and today he works with Mount Nittany Health to diagnose and treat patients in need of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery.
Throughout his career Dr. Stein has performed routine oral surgeries, but now his focus is on more complex cases and can include jaw deformities, major infections, medical issues, and oral surgery. He often collaborates with one or more departments in the health system, including trauma, emergency medicine, and pulmonology.
“I have worked for many health systems in my career, and I really love the people and the administration at Mount Nittany Health,” he said. “The collaboration with medical staff and doctors is top-notch and helps to improve patient outcomes.”
Dr. Stein has served as Chairman of the Credentials Committee and he is a regular volunteer at Centre Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM), spending time there each week. Dr. Stein earned his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Pittsburgh, Montefiore Hospital.
A fitness enthusiast, Dr. Stein enjoys riding his Peleton bike and walking. Gardening, grilling, and cooking also keep him active. He frequently socializes with a group of friends who have known each other for 25 – 30 years. An eclectic group that includes doctors, lawyers, university faculty members, and financial experts, they get together to attend movies and go out to eat.
Dr. Stein has four young grandchildren, two live near Chicago and two in Maryland. He goes to visit them whenever he can and together, they enjoy the outdoors including a special interest in national parks. The kids’ current interests range from computers and swimming to Legos and trapeze lessons!
