About Me
Michelle Black, CRNP, is dedicated to improving the quality of life for adults experiencing chronic, non-healing wounds. She specializes in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers, pressure injuries, venous stasis ulcers, arterial ulcers and non-healing surgical wounds. Michelle also supervises hyperbaric oxygen therapy for conditions such as chronic osteomyelitis and soft tissue radiation injuries. Her approach to care is grounded in nursing’s holistic perspective, considering not only physical health but also emotional, social and lifestyle factors to deliver thoughtful, individualized care.
Michelle’s career in healthcare was inspired by her passion for supporting individuals through compassionate, evidence-based care. She is motivated by the opportunity to help patients feel informed, respected and empowered in their health journeys. Her work reflects a strong commitment to patient-centered care and ongoing professional growth. Michelle chose to join Mount Nittany Health in 2008 because of its strong connection to the local community and its focus on improving health and well-being across the region.
Michelle emphasizes clear and supportive communication with her patients, helping them feel comfortable and confident in managing their care. She often reminds patients of their role as active participants in their health, encouraging education, engagement and shared decision-making to achieve better outcomes.
Outside of work, Michelle enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and their elderly cocker spaniel, Holly. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi honor society and the Society for Collegiate Leadership & Achievement in 2025. Michelle is currently pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Penn State University.
