Mount Nittany Health Welcomes M. Amanda Jacobs MD

Mount Nittany Health has welcomed M. Amanda Jacobs, MD, FAAD, FACMS, a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgeon, to its dermatology team. Dr. Jacobs brings decades of expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer while introducing Mohs micrographic surgery, a highly specialized skin cancer treatment, as a new service available through Mount Nittany Health starting in September.

Mohs surgery is considered the gold standard for treating many types of skin cancer, offering the highest cure rates while preserving as much healthy tissue as possible. The precise, outpatient procedure is especially effective for skin cancers located on cosmetically and functionally sensitive areas such as the face, ears, nose and hands. By bringing this advanced service to Mount Nittany Health, patients will have access to specialized skin cancer treatment closer to home.

Dr. Jacobs provides comprehensive medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatologic care, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer, complex cutaneous surgery and minimally invasive aesthetic procedures.

She completed her dermatology residency and procedural dermatology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic before joining its staff as a dermatologist. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, contributed to dermatology textbooks and presented her work at national and international conferences.
