Mount Nittany Health welcomes Joshua Gates, PA-C, as a team member specializing in orthopedics. Gates brings a passion for medicine, dedication to his community, and a commitment to providing exceptional care.

Gates’s path to Mount Nittany Health was inspired by his family ties to the Centre region and genuine desire to make a positive impact.

From a young age, I wanted to work at Mount Nittany Health,” Gates said. “My mom is a registered nurse in the health system, and I’ve heard it’s a great place to work.”

He holds a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Mercyhurst University, where he demonstrated leadership qualities as the vice president of the Mercyhurst Physician Assistant Student Society. He also earned a Bachelor of Health Sciences with a minor in Psychology from Lock Haven University.

Gates emphasizes the importance of treating patients as his own family. “Interactions with patients, even if only 15-30 minutes, can have a lasting impact,” he said. “A positive experience can resonate with patients long after their visit, and I strive to make each encounter memorable.

What motivates Gates as a healthcare provider is the transformative nature of orthopedics. He finds inspiration in helping people during their most challenging moments, witnessing their journey from distress to recovery.

“Whether it’s addressing mobility issues, modifying lifestyles, or providing conservative treatments, the care we give can make a significant difference in our patients’ lives,” Gates said.

Gates offers expertise in various areas within orthopedics, including sports medicine, general orthopedics, and trauma care, focusing on fracture care.

Outside of his medical practice, Gates shares a close bond with his parents and is the proud owner of a corgi named Leo. He enjoys outdoor activities like hiking and biking, including traveling to destinations for hiking, such as the Grand Canyon, Colorado, and Hawaii. He also enjoys the thrill of riding a motorcycle.

Gates’s commitment to service extends beyond his medical career. He has served in the National Guard, dedicating one year to the Army National Guard, demonstrating his dedication to his country and community.

We are honored to have Gates as part of our healthcare team and look forward to the positive impact he will make on the lives of those he serves.
